Grow Irish Reflection

After wrapping up our Grow Irish experience, I have had a chance to reflect on the awesome opportunity of working at Molson Coors Beverage Company for a week. This experience was one that certainly opened my eyes to what a career would look like in working in the beverage industry. I cannot speak any more highly in terms of my experience here in Milwaukee. In terms of what went well during the trip, it has to start with the magnificent job our sponsors did to organize everything over the course of the week. Senior Directors Eddie Jimenez and Eric Mangold did a wonderful job of laying out our task, and each individual work day was organized differently in terms of preparation for our final presentation. Each day, we had a different higher up come in and talk to us about a sector of the company, and how we can incorporate different ideas into our final product. Our group worked on the Sol beer line, and came up with several new initiatives we feel that Molson Coors should launch to help boost this line for the future. Our group worked diligently together all week in preparation for our final product, and we knocked it out of the park. The sponsors were more than pleased with what we put together, and said that it exceeded their expectations, and may use some of our recommendations for the future.

In terms of what needed more work or attention I would just say having more allocated work periods to work on the project would definitely be more effective. Since we were working for such a reputable company, and considering my newfound interest in the beverage industry, we really wanted to complete this to the best of our abilities and felt like we were able to do so, but it was definitely a time crunch to get everything done the way we wanted to.

If I were to change anything for the next time, I would definitely want to have a background powerpoint or something on our project to get ahead of the game. This could also help inspire more thought on new ideas and how to implement them. In addition, it could have given us more time after work to explore other parts of Milwaukee, although we did make our way around the city a couple of times.

Overall, the Grow Irish experience was very valuable to me and my career, and I am blessed to have been paired with Molson Coors. I really enjoyed my group, and I do feel as if we were very creative and thoughtful together as a group which helped to create a well-polished final product. I made some great connections with several representatives at Molson Coors, including our 2 project sponsors, and hope to keep in communication with them in the future. Most importantly, it feels good to have grown the good in business and I felt as if the program as a whole represented Notre Dame well. Go Irish!
